Lot 401: * George III Hepplewhite-Style Mahogany Sofa (RC32932)

George III Hepplewhite-Style Mahogany Sofa (RC32932) This George III mahogany sofa is a refined example of the Hepplewhite taste, featuring a high, arched backrest that flows seamlessly into rounded, out-swept arms. The mahogany frame is detailed with elegantly carved inswept arm supports and is upholstered in a neutral, textured fabric with a single long seat cushion, finished with traditional brass-headed studding along the borders. Supported by eight square-section moulded legs terminating in classic spade feet, the piece perfectly reflects the balanced, linear proportions and understated elegance characteristic of late 18th-century English cabinetry. Dimensions: 102 × 208 × 74 cm (H × W × D).
