Lot 6: * Bespoke reception counter is a landmark of regenerative design

Bespoke reception counter is a landmark of regenerative design, born from a high-profile collaboration between the award-winning studio A-nrd and the world-renowned furniture maker Sebastian Cox. Crafted specifically for the Birch Selsdon estate, the piece (96 x 61 x 104 cm) embodies a “tree-to-table” philosophy, utilizing timber harvested directly from the estate’s 200-acre rewilding project. Its most striking feature is the hand-crafted “shingled” exterior, where vertical timber shakes create a deeply tactile, rhythmic facade that mirrors the organic textures of the surrounding woodland. Beyond its sculptural presence, the desk is engineered for professional utility, featuring a spacious integrated worktop, two smooth-gliding drawers, and a two-door cupboard for discreet storage. As a functional piece of environmental art, this counter represents Cox’s signature “Traditional as Radical” approach, offering a carbon-conscious centerpiece that seamlessly bridges ancient woodland craft with contemporary boutique luxury.
