The design pays homage to the legendary Pie du Méné—a name tied to the rugged Méné hills of the Côtes-d’Armor, where the Allot family’s cabinetmaking story began in 1812. The armoire is a masterclass in the Louis XV (Rococo) style, characterised by its fluid movement and rejection of rigid straight lines. The top of the piece features a gracefully undulating chapeau de gendarme (gendarme hat) cornice, a classic regional hallmark that provides a sense of height and majesty. Each of the two doors is divided into three distinct sculpted medallions, featuring deep-relief carvings of birds, trophies, and floral garlands. The central panels often depict the eagle or magpie (pie) amidst rural motifs, grounding the piece in the natural beauty of the French countryside. The structure is supported by elegantly short cabriole legs that terminate in scrolled feet, lifting the massive solid cherrywood structure with a characteristic Rococo lightness.
