2 x Botanical Collage Prints – A pair of finely presented reproduction prints after the celebrated botanical collages of Mary Delany, an 18th-century English artist and naturalist renowned for her pioneering technique of “paper mosaicks” — intricate floral compositions made from hand-cut coloured papers layered on black backgrounds. 1. “Passiflora Murucuja” (1777) Depicts the tropical water lemon vine, with white and yellow flowers, tendrils, and two distinct fruits — one dark blue, one light green. Composed from over 230 individually cut paper elements, this collage was created at Luton Park and gifted by Lord Bute, a noted horticultural patron. 2. “Lathyrus Latifolius” (1781) Also known as the Broad-leav’d Everlasting Pea, this climbing perennial is shown with paired leaflets, winged stems, and delicate blooms, rendered with botanical accuracy and artistic restraint. Created at Bulstrode Park, a frequent site of Delany’s work. Both prints are mounted in multi-layered cream mats and housed in gilt frames, glazed for preservation and decorative display. 44 x 44cm (Loc 242)
