Table de salon “Dauphin” n° 0577 Lounge Table “Dauphin” in Empire Style is a monumental architectural piece that exemplifies the heroic and symbolic aesthetic of the French Imperial period under Napoleon I. Handcrafted from solid limewood, the table features a massive circular marble top characterized by rich terracotta and white veining, which is set within a robust, hand-carved apron adorned with a continuous pattern of gilded gadrooning. This table draws primary inspiration from the mythological and nautical motifs favored by legendary Empire ébénistes such as Jacob-Desmalter and Bernard Molitor, who frequently integrated dolphins and other allegorical creatures to signify power and prestige.[FR801]
