Lot 993a: * Chelsom 22/11204/FS2 floor lamp is a distinctive piece of functional art

Chelsom 22/11204/FS2 floor lamp is a distinctive piece of functional art, standing 162 cm tall, that originated as part of a custom-designed lighting scheme for the guestrooms of the Mondrian London (now known as Sea Containers London). Developed in close collaboration between Chelsom and Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio, the lamp reflects the hotel’s “transatlantic liner” aesthetic through its sleek, gold-finished silhouette and refined proportions. Its minimalist stem and weighted circular base are designed to provide a sophisticated vertical accent that complements Dixon’s bold, mid-century-inspired interiors while meeting the rigorous durability standards required for luxury hospitality environments. This specific model serves as a prime example of high-end British manufacturing paired with avant-garde design, bridging the gap between bespoke contract furniture and iconic residential style.(SC13)
