Vitrine Maur is an exquisite interpretation of the Louis XV style Representing the pinnacle of mid-18th-century Parisian ébénisterie, the Vitrine Maur is an exquisite interpretation of the Louis XV style, serving as a monumental anchor for the display of fine porcelain or curated collectibles. Handcrafted from solid cherry wood—a material celebrated in the Maur style for its warmth and grain—the cabinet is defined by its fluid, organic grace and the architectural elegance of the Charente-Maritime region of France. The structure features two grand glazed doors designed with distinctive double-arched chapeau de gendarme (policeman’s hat) top rails, providing a dignified “crown” that mirrors the rhythmic, scalloped mouldings of the lower apron. This design pays homage to the Saint-Maur area, where the high-style Rococo movement of Paris—characterized by asymmetry and organic “S” and “C” curves—transitioned into the prestigious cabinetmaking centres of the French provinces. The transparency of the lateral panels allows for multi-angled viewing of the interior’s glass shelving, while the frame is elevated by custom-cast gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, including high-relief espagnolettes and a magnificent rocaille trophy mount. Supported by four slender cabriole legs terminating in refined bronze sabots, the vitrine is finished in a warm hand applied patina, standing as a definitive statement of French historical prestige with dimensions of H189 x L108 x D40 cm.
