A pair of Louis XV/XVI Transition Style Fauteuils Dite ‘Michalon’ This distinguished pair of Michalon armchairs is expertly hand-carved from solid beechwood and inspired by the revolutionary neoclassical designs of the Parisian master Louis Delanois. A hallmark of the Transition style, this model beautifully captures the late 18th-century shift from Rococo to Neoclassicism, featuring a graceful medallion backrest and fluid whiplash arm supports that provide a sophisticated counterpoint to its architectural frame. The piece stands on turned and fluted arrow feet, a classic tapered leg design further detailed with traditional hand-carved rosette corner blocks at the die-join. Finished in a vibrant crimson velvet accented by brass nailhead trim, the chair utilizes traditional steel-sprung upholstery to ensure both lasting comfort and structural integrity. Each chair measures approximately 94 cm in height, 67 cm in width, and 56 cm in depth (37″ x 26″ x 22″), serving as a testament to superior French craftsmanship and timeless classical proportions.
