A pair of Louis XVI Style Fauteuils Après Georges Jacob This sumptuous pair of Louis XVI-style fauteuils represents a faithful, high-quality reproduction of a model by the legendary master menuisier Georges Jacob, who was the most prominent chairmaker of the late eighteenth century and a favourite of the French royal family. Meticulously hand-carved from solid beechwood, each frame is finished entirely in rich 24-carat gold leaf to accentuate its highly architectural Neoclassical silhouette. The chairs are profusely decorated with traditional classical ornamentation, including detailed egg-and-dart (oves) beading along the frame and elegant spiral fluting on the arm supports. For superior comfort and longevity, the seats are built using traditional old-world techniques, featuring helical springs and leaf-fibre trimming. They are sumptuously upholstered in a luxurious, deep blue mohair damask with an elaborate floral pattern, providing a striking contrast to the gold-leafed frame.
