Lot 326: * 2 x Framed Turner Prints – Ullswater & Carisbrooke Castle

2 x Framed Turner Prints – Ullswater & Carisbrooke Castle A matched pair of Romantic landscape prints reproducing watercolours by Joseph Mallord William Turner, England’s preeminent painter of light, atmosphere, and poetic topography. Both works reflect Turner’s ability to transform real locations into mythic visions, blending natural grandeur with subtle social commentary. 1. Ullswater, Cumberland (c.1835) and 2. Carisbrooke Castle, Isle of Wight (c.1828) A romanticised view of the Norman fortress, with figures on horseback, goats, and a rainbow in the distance. Turner’s rendering captures the castle’s fortified gateway and surrounding landscape in warm, expressive tones. The print was engraved by Charles Westwood for the same series, drawing from Turner’s 1795 sketchbook studies 50 x 46cm (Loc 732)
